Rolf Sieker moved from Germany to Texas in the late 1990's and went on to win the Texas State Banjo Championship in 2001. He was featured in Banjo Newsletter in Sept. 2002.

He was one of the first 5-string banjo players in Europe and in 1975 Rolf's band Bluegrass Express recorded the very first bluegrass album in Germany. Rolf has played with musicians touring Europe, such as Byron Berline, Dan Crary, Bill Monroe, Marc O'Connor, Dave Dudley, Bill Clifton and many more.

Rolf Sieker's way of playing the banjo is highly influenced by the blues-melodic style of Bobby Thompson, one of the most requested studio musicians in the 60's, 70's and 80's in Nashville. The two were close friends and Rolf received Bobby's banjo in 1996.

Rolf has been teaching in the Central Texas area for many years. He taught at the South Plains College Bluegrass Camp in 2002. For Rolf it has always been important to teach and perform
