Angie, I ordered a Gold Tone BG250F through you a couple of weeks ago. It arrived safely 10 days later, and what a treat. The banjo is beautifully assembled, sports an understated elegance, and the sound is rich and balanced. This baby does ring! Even my missed licks sound a little better, if there is such a miracle. The Gold tone is a winner and so are you. I really appreciate your assistance, your communication, and your thoughtful free gift. Dear Angie, I just received the Gold Tone OB 250 yesterday. Wow! What a great banjo! The sound is incredible! It really pops! The dynamics are fantastic! My OB 250 is an upgrade from the Deering Goodtime II. For just double the price the Gold Tone gives me 10 times the banjo. In all fairness, it’s apples and oranges to compare the two, as they don't pretend to be in the same category. I did a lot of research before this purchase, which included reading many reviews and trying some banjos at local shops. I believe the OB 250 is truly the best banjo on the market for under $1,000. I had tried many different makes and models including the Deering Sierra, the Gold Tone BG 250F, several Morgan Monroes, a Johnson, a Wildwood, a couple of Fenders, and several Gold Stars. The Wildwood was incredible, but it was not a new banjo and it was selling for over $3,000. Among the banjos under $1,500 that I played, the Gold Tone BG 250F was the best. It outshines the Deering Sierra, which cost twice as much and is quite plain in appearance. The stores I went to did not have the OB 250, so I never had the chance to play it before ordering it. I ended up buying it anyway because it had so many great reviews. I also figured it would sound at least as good as the BG 250F and would give me upgraded features such as the ebony fingerboard and more decorative inlays. I was not disappointed. I think Gold Tone has upgraded the OB 250 from the original design. There is now a wood binding (instead of the white) that is absolutely gorgeous. There is also an inlay at the 1st fret whereas in the pictures the inlays start at the 3rd. The armrest is also now decorative as opposed to the plain armrest in the picture. What a great choice I made! I'm sure I will own it the rest of my life. Regarding Angiesbanjo.com, you have absolutely the best deals.
